"Goldilocks"

Postby kesterkamp » Mon May 20, 2013 12:30 am

Got a "new to me" 1995 Jeep Cherokee (2-Door) in trade for my Waverunner.

It was a tan golden color and matched my Honda... so naturally I had to have it!!! haha

4.0L High Output FI
AW4 Tranny
NP231 Transfer Case... Will swap for something i can twin stick
Front Dana 44 with "custom" link setup... its going to need some love
Rear Ford 9" setup for soa
34" Super Swamper TSL's Front +1 Spare
33" Super Swamper Bogger's Rear +1 Spare
Ghetto Fab exo cage that is in the process of being removed... Made from "poop pipe"

I like it so that's all that matters... haha :bounce:

It's ugly and dirty so I've been spending my first few days cleaning and gutting the interior.

I'll get more pictures coming... I now have my Jeep and my Dad has the black one.

Cleaned out the carport fora new workspace... I hope to have it ready for Jellico in July.

I'm going to rebuild the front axle(already have the kit so might as well while its out), redo the font links swapping the coils for air shocks and look at the transmission and figure out why it thinks it has to stain my driveway.

So T-minus 6 weeks or hopefully less to completion.

P.S. already thinking I hate the unibody "frame"... RuffStuff makes some stiffeners but we'll see how it goes.

Axle is out! Now let the grinding commence...

Ballistic Fab has a sale going on through tomorrow for like 20% off if anyone else is interested.

The axle is coming clean... Slowly, but surely.

Parts should be coming early next week.

The long side is clean from inner c to the housing... Now time to start on the short side.

Brackets will be here Wednesday.

I cut off the track bar mount so I guess in going to have to order another one of those too.

Brackets came in the mail today... Parts look good except the reviews are true about the packing. Ballistic outs packing peanuts that end up shredded so it makes a mess.

I picked up the axle from Andy today with the new brackets welded on.

Put it back under the jeep and connected the links.

Ordered a tracbar mount for the axle.

Things to do:
Mount tracbar to axle
Make upper shock mounts
Get new link mounts for the frame
Build new links

4 weeks to go!!!

You need some high steer arms on that thing. The drag link is at a very steep angle. It's going to be very subject to bump steer!

edit - Just realized the body is probably jacked up, but still something to watch.

Yeah it was still hoisted at the time... It doesn't sit that much higher that stock with weight.

Picked up a roll cage I found on pirate4x4...

It was built for an xj. Now I just have to figure out how to fit a round peg in a square hole.

Made from 1.75" HREW. Looks pretty solid!

Has the brackets for the 4pt harnesses and a spare tire mount

Got my transmission shop up and running last night.

Tore everything down and found out it was a hole in the pan was the reason it was leaking all over my driveway and trailer.

Should I go ahead and swap the front main seal too why it's out???

Headed to u pull and pay tonight.
